Marc Hedgpeth

Anaheim Police Department (Retired)

 

Marc is a 34-year law enforcement veteran, who retired as a Captain with the Anaheim Police Department. In 1995, Captain Hedgpeth founded the Anaheim Police Mounted Unit, and served as the commander of the unit and an active riding officer until his retirement in August 2001.

Marc was appointed to the C.M.O.A. Board of Directors in 2006, and has served as the C.M.O.A. Treasurer since his appointment.

Captain Hedgpeth is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the P.O.S.T. Command College. He holds a full-time California Community College Teaching Credential, and has taught in community colleges and Orange County police academies for the last 30 years. Marc continues to

instruct courses at the Orange County Sheriffs Academy, and

serves as an instructor for the Orange County Regional Mounted Unit.

Marc is a C.H.A. Certified Horsemanship Instructor, and operates a company providing sensory and obstacle training and other specialized equestrian training to various mounted assistance units, police agencies, riding clubs, and members of the public throughout Southern California.

Marc regularly competes in western pleasure horse shows, specializing in western trail competition. He is a multiple gold medal winner in equestrian events during California Police and Fire Summer Games. He also enjoys competing in team penning and cattle sorting events throughout Southern California.
